DETAIL: VINTAGE DISPLAY
The idea was simple, to display an array of vintage milk cans within Clover Stornetta's new reception space. The historic and hidden-away milk cans are fantastic and varied - they didn't need much added, just an opportunity to see the light. Starting with a quick sketch and a simple diagram, the idea became possible in collaboration with the steel fabricator Schnitzkraft and the client. Schnitzkraft realized the design, composing the 3 custom shelving units from bent, raw plate steel and salvaged redwood fence boards. The shelving is materially connected, yet maintains a more subtle expression than the cans, in order to play the supporting role.
