McCARTHY LIBRARY
This project was completed while Project Architect and Lead Designer with a prior firm. The new Library at Napa Valley College opened in 2010. The project has transformed the campus, creating a vibrant student center. The building Lobby, Cafe, and main Stairway are located in close proximity, huddled around the main Entry. This hub has become an active point of exchange for students and faculty. The Library's translucent facade opens onto the main Plaza courtyard. The courtyard, which was design and constructed in collaboration with Quadriga Landscape Architecture, has also become an important destination for students. Interior spaces within the Library are filled with daylight and grace. Library resource technology and custom Library furniture is integrated into the interior. In addition to the academic Library, the 2-story, 62,000 square-foot building contains campus Student Service functions and Community Room available for use by local organizations and the general public through reservation.
